Under the Bridge
This was taken NW of Seoul where two rivers converge into the Han river which runs through Seoul I've played with the picture a bit in Gimp (free photoshop wannabe)and, after looking at it for too long am no longer able to judge wether or not the image has been improved or not...the less tweaked version is below. Any prefernces?

I like the starkness of the B&W in the original - however, the mountain/skyline looks good in the edit. So I guess it depends what you're looking for; Slightly romantised or industrially stark. I guess the skyline in the original is kinda lost and nothing, due to little variation. And the edit does give a good depth and warmth to the pic'. It makes the whole picture worth looking at - but if the point is the geometry of the bridge and the boat and the contrast there in, then is this a good thing?
In some up I would say that I prefer the original. Firstly, I think that the richness of the background in the edit draws the eye from the actual subject of the picture, it also washes out some of detailing in the foreground and definitely you lose contrast. However, I am a big fan of the industrial landscape and the beauty of the starkness therein (I love the shot you took driving into ?Bradford, with the flyover and mist etc). I'd also add that I only looked at this pic as thumbnails on the blog. So I may have lost some of the finesse that comes with large prints.
What we have to ask ourselves though Ste is - Are you yearning for those days in Crewe? Seems like you really want to go back to Hanging around under motorway bridges.
